Googling ‘spiritual nutrition’ gives us lots of links to food. We can find many suggestions about the ‘physical’ eating designed to enhance our spiritual nature. For example — which foods to eat, how to think about these foods and even the relationship we have with our foods.
Sometimes overlooked is a step beyond physical eating — we also consume a lot of what can be called ‘food for the soul’ or ‘spirit food’ such as thoughts, beliefs & attitudes. So, have we checked what we’ve been eating lately?
A steady diet of positive spirit food can enhance our spiritual growth & may even promote our awakening. Just as a healthy body is more flexible & able to cope with change — a healthy spirit is also more receptive to new perceptions. Our increasing awareness of the choices with regard to what we eat will ideally include both physical & metaphysical food.
In choosing the positive over the negative or toxic — we may have to make some tough decisions. Perhaps there are people who are not good for us. Maybe there are places we should avoid. We could even be subtly thinking and repeating negative affirmations about ourselves, or others, in our minds.
So if we feel that our spirit needs to be ‘detoxified’ & uplifted — we may wish to include some positive affirmations in our daily routine. There are lots to choose from — depending on which areas we want to work on — health, romance, self-acceptance, etc.
Here are a few simple ones which you might like to try:
- I give out Love and it is returned to me multiplied.
- All false messages about me are now dissolved in total grace.
- I attract people & situations that support & nurture me.
